Q: Do I have to be a fast runner to join?
A: No. While we have some speedsters in the group, we also have folks that run 9 minute plus miles. If , however, you run 10 minute miles or slower, we suggest you bring a similarly paced friend to the group.
Q: How long is the course?
A: Approximately 4.7 miles. The faster runners add additional mileage and you can turn around at any time.
Q: I want to get on the weekly newsletter list, how do I do that?
A: Send an email to FederalHillRunners at hotmail dot com (it’s not spelled out to prevent spamming robots)
Q: Is this free?
A: Yes. Although we will make the occasional request for water cups.
Q: What about parking?
A: If you get lucky, you can park on Cross Street. There is a garage one street over on West Street. During Monday night football games when the Ravens are in town or the rare post season Orioles games do NOT park on the neighborhood streets. Without a permit you will get towed. Instead of driving, strongly consider riding your bike, taking the free Circulator bus, or run over.
Q: Do you only meet on Mondays at 6:30 PM?
A: Yes. If you’re interested in running in a group on other days you can check out other neighborhood clubs or ask some of the Federal Hill Runners if they would like to meet informally later in the week.
Q: Do you still meet if it’s raining?
A: Neither snow nor rain nor heat or gloom of night. Or locusts or crazy Yankee fans streaming out of Camden Yards will prevent us for meeting. Running in the rain can be more fun if you think of yourself starring in a Nike commercial.
Do u have beginners running sessions?
Thanks
Hi Valerie – a little (okay, a lot) late on replying. I’d say our Monday night run is more geared towards folks who are comfortable running at least 3 miles and paces between 9 and 10 minutes per mile. If that doesn’t meet what you’re looking for, I’d suggest checking out Charm City Run in Locust Point. They have some groups that are designed to build newer runners up!
